Using government audiotapes, interviews and round-the-clock news coverage, this in-depth National Geographic special seeks to answer a long list of questions -- among them, why were emergency personnel so woefully unprepared for Hurricane Katrina? After tearing a path through Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama, Katrina was declared the most destructive and costliest natural disaster in United States history.
Embedded with the Coast Guard unit, I did principal photography of the rescue efforts.
